WOOD FEATURE: KARRI WOOD

Karri wood also known as Eucalyptus diversicolor, is a eucalypt native to the wetter regions of Southwestern Australia and is known for its' strength and rich red-ish colour. The medium to tall forest tree typically grows to a height of 10 to 60 metres but can reach as high as 90 m making it the tallest tree in Western Australia and one of the tallest trees in the world. It is mostly used in framing, decking, bridge construction, railway-carriage construction, agricultural implements and shipbuilding. Though there are many varying types, some of the more common types of Karri wood can also be known as a type of timber, which is why it is used in so many different ways, as it is fairly easy to access and (as mentioned) has high tensile strength.
